Traditional Chinese Medicine includes different forms of manual therapy that have their own lineage and history of use. Some of them may look familiar because many cultures employ similar techniques. Depending on your treatment needs, these therapies may be included in your visit.
Cupping
Cupping has become more popular recently. It involves using suction to pull tissue and muscles fibers away from the bone. It offers a unique type of relief for muscle pain, circulation, asthma and so much more. It will leave marks, but they will heal quickly.
TDP Heat Lamp
The TDP Heat Lamp is one of my favorites. It has a mineral coated heat plate that offers special benefits for many conditions, like digestion, joint and muscle pain. I use this treatment most frequently for fertility support and other women’s health conditions.
Gua Sha
Gua Sha is a type of scraping technique that uses a tool against the skin. Just like cupping, it will leave a mark on the area that’s treated, but will heal quickly. This technique is ideal for neck and shoulder pain and early stages of wind invasion.
Moxabustion
Moxabustion is a very effective way to promote tissue healing, inject yang into the system and aid circulation. It involves burning the artemisia plant and its not frequently used in the office because of the smoke it generates. However, sometimes there is no substitute that can equal its power.
If any of these modalities are right for you, I will walk you through each step, including after care, so that you can get the most healing from your session.
